From Sim to Skill: SurgMate Supports National ECMO Training for ICU Nurses at NTI 2025

We were honored to support the ECMO preconference workshop at NTI 2025 (National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition) with our ECMO Cannulation & Endovascular Procedures Training Platform and NeoPeds Endovascular Procedures Training Platform.
 

Led by Dr. Olena Svetlov, DNP, RN, AGNP/CNS, CCRN, PHN, FCNS, and Weiting Chen, this full-day immersive workshop brought together over 100 critical care nurses from across the United States for hands-on simulation training. With more than 10 interactive training sessions, participants had the opportunity to deeply engage in ECMO techniques and clinical scenario practices.
 

Our simulation platforms helped participants visualize and feel how various patient conditions present during ECMO cannulation and endovascular procedures, supporting safe, real-world decision-making.
 

Beyond providing equipment, this experience gave our team valuable insights into the unique training needs of nurses in ECMO care — particularly their role in vascular access, complication management, and collaborative team responses during emergencies. We’re grateful to have contributed to an educational environment that supports both technical precision and clinical intuition.
